Five Ways To Get Inside Your Body.

Most people spend the majority of the time in their heads ~ having no idea what it really feels like in the body.
They think it’s magic when the guy at the running store simply looks at a shoe and can tell you how you land on your feet.
They might believe that the majority of injuries happen all of a sudden, rather than build over time.
Get out of your head.  Get inside your body.  Five easy ways to climb on in:

  1. Take a deep breathe.  It’s really that easy.  Inhale, expanding the belly.  Fully exhale.  Drop your shoulders from your ears and notice how you feel.
  2. Do a body scan.  Seek out tight spots and tension.  Relax and release.
  3. Tense up your entire body. Grip your hands. Shrug your shoulders. Grit your teeth. Flex your legs. Then relax everything. Shake out all of that tension. Relax.
  4. Notice where you’re standing on your feet. The heel? The outsides of your feet? Are you gripping your toes? Wiggle your fingers. Wiggle your toes. Find your mid-foot.  Feel the ground.
  5. Move slowly, without distraction.  No music.  No phone.  Tune into your body.  Notice the muscles that are working.  Slow it down.

Be present now.  Honor your body.  Learn to listen it.  It will guide you if you let it.
