This past weekend, I taught a class and was struck by how many comments were made about the relationship between aging and the body.
Most everyone in the class seemed to think that the pain they were experiencing while walking or running, or even standing, was simply a part of getting older.
HELLO??
I disagree.
Now, I’m not saying you won’t get any aches or pains as you get older – but you certainly don’t have to expect them.
If you are experiencing any aches or pains in your body, question them. If something doesn’t feel right, make an adjustment. Play with the way that you stand or sit.
Adjust the way that your foot strikes the ground. Climb on in and notice. Feel the tightness. Feel the ache. Stretch it out. See a doctor. Get some body work. Hire a coach. Make a change.
Certainly, don’t expect pain, or discomfort. And if you get it, don’t throw in the towel and assume that’s just the way it is.
This goes not only for aging – but for anything.
The results you expect are the results you’ll see.
Expect brilliance.
