Have you ever felt lost?
Bewildered, with no idea what to do next?
Sad, that something is over – with a touch of grief thrown in?
I recently completed a journey through the Grand Canyon.
Rim to Rim to Rim. The north to south and back again in one day. 40 some odd miles.
I’ve spent almost 18 months preparing for it (with one attempt in the middle).
Countless hours of training. Learning to fuel my body for long periods of time.
Learning to fuel my mind when I “couldn’t” go any further.
And now it’s over.
For a week or so after, I was on top of the world. Joy-full. Invincible. Ready.
And now, I feel a bit lost. I’m sad and unsure what to do next.
I’ve been in this place before – so I recognize the feeling. Yet it feels somehow different.
I’m curious, have you been in this place?
Ever finished a big project and missed it afterward?
Crossed the finish line, and wondered what’s next?
Doesn’t have to be athletic. I think this can happen with just about anything.
How did you move through?
In the past I have immediately signed up for another run, or the next “thing”, and I have no doubt that’s coming….but I’m intentionally waiting. Sitting in this place of uncertainty.
The way I see it, it can be an incredible place of possibility or grief.
It simply depends upon your focus.
Is there an area of your life where you feel a bit lost or unsure of what’s next?
Shift your focus.
What’s possible?
“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
~ J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
