Can you be still long enough to pay attention?
Eating almonds or fruit as a snack leaves me feeling great, and ready for the next challenge. Eating a chocolate donut – while tasty in the moment, feels a bit like lead an hour later. And here’s the thing – I know that. I don’t need to wait the hour.
About once a year, I ignore the smaller signs of stress. I don’t mean to, but somehow I miss them. These smaller signs build on each other, and this results in a nice little welt – usually on my chin or neck. Typically it blisters, and lasts about a week. It’s attractive. (NOT)
It’s my intention this year to not get that welt. To pay closer attention to my body, and head the smaller warnings. Release that stress in some other way. Perhaps this will be a welt free year…
Our bodies are a wealth of information, if we’d only tune in long enough to listen.
Are you hungry? The clock can’t tell you, but your body knows.
Ready to quit that race? Your mind might have an opinion, but your body is really a better gauge.
Are you the right one for the job or is this job the right one for you? Do a gut check. Get your body, as well as your mind involved. It won’t steer you wrong.
What’s your body telling you?…and are you smart enough to listen?
