Wonder. At It All.

wonder ~ (verb) to be filled with admiration, amazement, awe; marvel.

Last night, as we were running our regular route, my son shouts out, “Mom, look at those bushes!!!”
As if they were magic, or on fire, or had Santa popping out.  But no, they were your run of the mill, massive green bushes. It made me laugh out loud though and appreciate his sense of wonder.

What if, this week, you looked at your surroundings with child-like wonder?

Instead of the boring brown desk, you saw the wood of a wise old tree waiting to spark your creativity.

Instead of a friend or spouse, or child, you saw pure love.

Instead of eggs and toast, you saw sunshine, air, water, and energy flowing directly into your body.
You get the idea.

I challenge you to approach not only today, but the remainder of the year with a sense of wonder.
This is easy to dismiss ~ to click away and disregard, but it’s more important than ever.  I was having a rough day when we finally got out for that run.
The reminder to stop and be in awe of the ordinary jolted me.
It made me grateful for the beauty and wonder that surrounds me daily.
The tendency is to to take for granted those things that we see every day – or simply not notice them at all.

Stop.  Look around you.  See with new eyes.

Appreciate.

You never know, you just might see some magic bushes.

hocus pocus!
