I love you.

I saw this meme on facebook – and it made me a little uncomfortable.  I didn’t grow up in a family where I heard “I love you” on a regular basis.  I knew my parents loved me, but it was unspoken.

When my father’s cancer became terminal, something changed, and every time we hung up the phone, an “I love you” was spoken.  I will be forever grateful that I got to say it in person one last time before he left this world for good.  Today, I make sure my kids are showered in love – even when I’m at my wits end.

My daughter’s fourth grade teacher has told her class from day one that he loves them.  I LOVE this, and ultimately, I love this meme.  It’s so very true.

The world could do with a little more love and light, and so I say:
I love you, on Valentine’s Day and every day!
