Be present when you move.

Do you run or walk with music? or listening to a podcast? a book on tape?
Or chatting on the phone?
Your mind a million miles away.
Not engaged in how you are moving, or why you are moving.
This is often how injuries occur….

I get it. This is your time to unplug. To let go. Perhaps, to even multi-task.
Phone your mother while out for a walk. Vent to your best friend while taking in some fresh air.
However, it’s also a great time to tune in.

Be present when you move.

You don’t have to do this every time, but at least once a week move your body with presence.
Notice how your feet hit the ground.
Do you pronate (roll in over the big toe)? or supinate (more to the outsides of the feet)?
Do you hit with your heel first? Clench your toes?

Notice your tension. Are your shoulders tight? Your jaw clenched? Release it.

Notice any aches or pains. Play with them, and see if you can make them go away.

Notice your breath, or lack of. Drop your shoulders, and breathe deep.

Allow your mind to wander, but every now and then, gently bring it back inside.
Notice the cues that your body is constantly sending you.
Be present when you move.

Move more, not less.
