You have to be willing to be humbled.
A client said this to me a few weeks ago as we began to alter her running form.
You have to be willing to be humbled.
So simple, yet so profound.
We have to be willing to go slower, to eventually go faster.
Stop doing what we’re used to doing.
Breaking up our habits that aren’t getting us where we want to go. Creating more mindful movement.
You might have to completely suck, to get better.
You might come in last. Or not at all…..
Lose the game.
Lose the bid.
Get criticized.
You have to be willing to be humbled.
This has run through my head several times in the weeks since I met with her.
I am guilty of not wanting to make a mistake – of being afraid of making a mistake.
Of wanting and expecting perfection.
Not speaking out, as someone might disagree.
Not moving forward with business ideas, because some will certainly fail.
Not making a decision, because it’s easier (but somehow harder…..)
Looking to others, rather than following my own road, and leading.
You have to be willing to be humbled.
To make a mistake. To look like an idiot. To not have a clue.
I did this to my running years ago, and haven’t had an injury since.
Now, I’m applying that same lesson to my life. To my business. To my kids.
You have to be willing to be humbled.
Where can you be humbled today?
